Welcome to Sproutly ("we," "our," or "us"). We operate the Sproutly mobile application (the "App") and the website located at sproutly.app (the "Website"), collectively referred to as the "Service."
We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it. By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect several types of information to provide and improve our Service:

- Communications: When you contact support, we collect the content of your messages and any attachments.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Usage Data: Features used, screens visited, actions taken, timestamps, and session duration.

2.3 Information from Third Parties
- Authentication Providers: If you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive your name, email, and profile photo as permitted by those services.
- Analytics Services: We use analytics tools that may collect aggregated and anonymized usage data.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Provide & Maintain the Service: Operate the App, process your requests, generate meal plans, synchronize data across devices, and deliver core functionality.
- AI-Powered Features: Process your inputs (text, images, voice) through artificial intelligence systems to provide recipe suggestions, ingredient recognition, scaling calculations, and dietary transformations. See Section 4 for details.
- Personalization: Tailor content, recommendations, and the user experience to your preferences and dietary profile.
- Improvement & Analytics: Analyze usage patterns to improve functionality, fix bugs, and develop new features.
- Communication: Send service-related announcements, respond to support requests, and (with your consent) notify you about new features or updates.
- Security: Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Legal Compliance: Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.
4. AI Processing & Third-Party Services
Sproutly uses artificial intelligence to power features such as recipe analysis, ingredient recognition, meal planning, and dietary transformations. To provide these features, certain data you input (such as text prompts, ingredient lists, or images) may be transmitted to third-party AI service providers, including but not limited to Google (Gemini API).
- Data sent to AI providers is used solely to generate responses for your requests.
- We do not sell your data to AI providers or any other third party.
- AI providers may process data in accordance with their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
- AI-generated content (including nutritional information, dietary suggestions, and recipe modifications) is provided for informational purposes only and may contain inaccuracies. See our Terms of Service for important disclaimers.
5. Data Storage & Retention
Your data is stored using Supabase (hosted on cloud infrastructure) and is protected by industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
6. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: With trusted third-party vendors who assist us in operating the Service (e.g., cloud hosting, AI processing, analytics), bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
- Safety: To protect the rights, property, or safety of Sproutly, our users, or the public.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- With Your Consent: We may share information for any purpose you authorize.
